You've got six new notifications on Facebook, eight new e-mails to read and three Snap-Chats to write back to. One of those emails is a nagging reminder of something on your to do list that still needs to be done. As you finish up your emails and check Instagram you notice the time and now you're running late for work! Anyone else ever have "one of those mornings?!" It's so interesting to me how much importance we place on that small little computer we call a cell phone. After seeing an Instagram post on a similar topic by the lovely Andrea O'Brien, and this one over on Mind Body Green I thought it would be fun to share some Spring Cleaning tips for your morning routine.
This is by no means the "IF I have a perfect morning I will do 2 hours of yoga and meditate for a half hour before I bake my own gluten free protein infused oatmeal with a side of freshly picked berries from my personal greenhouse".... That's pretty unrealistic, but sounds lovely if you want to include me. ;) These are some hard and fast tips you can put into your current life without too much work. On April 28th, I'm working with live, local, metal band Goner to teach a Metal Yoga class. Some yogis have asked me, why? My answer, Why the heck not? We are all unique. We all find joy in different things. We all have different quirks, talents, strengths and weaknesses.
Despite the recent ice and snow, are you starting to feel that Spring Fever? It might be intensified this week due to the New Moon that was on Sunday the 15th. Good news; Mercury is finally direct too! I find that during those first few days of the new moon, I reaaaally feel that New Beginnings vibe! I start new projects. I'm more willing to try new things. I may be so bold to say I feel more creative during this time. Here in upstate New York, we're just starting to see the day staying brighter longer. Although, we've had some ice this past weekend and strong winds again, but most of the snow is gone! Most notable, the Geese are back from their southern migration.
All these things and more are signifying Spring to me in a BIG way. Our first New Moon this season is giving me ALL the feels. Time to check back in with my goals, my needs and recommit. A few weeks ago I made a dream pillow! Complete with herbs, resins, LOVE and magic. I only now put together how perfect it really is... I spent part of St. Patty's day sewing and crafting. (Side note: It was lovely!) I had collected my supplies and sat down to make it happen, when my kitty Jasper decided he REALLY wanted to be involved.
Fear. Anxiety. Competition. Judgement. Am I even doing this right?! Ever have those thoughts when trying something new? How about in that new yoga class? Whomp Whomp.... :( I've been there. The new guy. Everyone else fits this perfect mold and here I am to f#%* it all up. BUT Wait! I thought we were all supposed to chant and share our heart center with all our class mates? I thought we weren't in competition with one another? But wait, watch me do this thing in headstand that YOU can't do... AHHHHH what? I can't keep up. Didn't we just want to do yoga? When I'm on my mat, it's me. Just me.
Pushing my edges. Growing. Getting stronger. Becoming a new version of ME. Can we get a little more blogger love going around?
I think so. Let's dive right into another session of Friday Faves. |
