Fear. Anxiety. Competition. Judgement. Am I even doing this right?! Ever have those thoughts when trying something new? How about in that new yoga class? Whomp Whomp.... :( I've been there. The new guy. Everyone else fits this perfect mold and here I am to f#%* it all up. BUT Wait! I thought we were all supposed to chant and share our heart center with all our class mates? I thought we weren't in competition with one another? But wait, watch me do this thing in headstand that YOU can't do... AHHHHH what? I can't keep up. Didn't we just want to do yoga? When I'm on my mat, it's me. Just me. Pushing my edges. Growing. Getting stronger. Becoming a new version of ME. What if we could block the competition? What if I knew there weren't any judgments? Would there be less fear in trying? Less anxiety in failure? Is any of this even a possibility?! Then if I get there, beyond the anxiety and fear, can I still connect with my community? Can we all work together for change? Well, consider this my shameless plug... As part of the Yoga for Sight event, through the SEVA Foundation, Zennergy Studios is offering their Second Annual Blindfolded Practice.
Focus inward on your practice. Challenge yourself to try something new. Let go of judgement. Let go of competition. Truly BE in your body. FEELING the asana (pose). BREATHING. Doing. Really present on your mat, with one less distraction. Did I mention, you'll also be making a positive change in the world? Join me, April 14th at 10:30 AM for a Blindfolded Practice. A donation based class where ALL proceeds will be sent directly to the SEVA Foundation to keep doing what they do best. Going inward for a good cause, - Jenn Rose (Photos from The SEVA Foundation) |
