It's the last one of our "Understanding Moon Cycles" series! If you enjoyed this, let me know and I'll work more moon related content into our mix.
Happy (almost) Full Moon! I like to think of the full moon as a celebration. It's the finish line for the work you've put in and time to check back in with those goals. It's also a time for gratitude (when isn't it?!).
Let's dive a little deeper.
First of all, if it's not bitter stinging cold where you live see if you can sneak outside Monday night (the 21st) to take a look at that beautiful moon. I always feel really connected with the universe and everything in when I look up at a full moon. Anyone else?
Like the sun, the full moon is a bright reminder of all the good we have in our lives. I encourage you to take some time to check in--hint hint--with your journal! This is one of my favorite times to complete my "Find the Good" journal prompts; which goes a little something like....
Finding the Good is all about training the brain to look at the positive. I've talked a lot about how we will forget that compliment on our dress today, but we'll remember that mean thing that kid in 2nd grade said about us so much easier. (Here's a bit of the science behind that.) So to combat that negativity bias, I write about all the good things that happened that day; any compliments, cuddle time with kitties, my warm cozy socks, you get the idea.
During the full moon, we can amp up that gratitude practice, Finding the Good, by checking with those goals that we set back during the new moon.
It's important to celebrate your success, no matter how small. Take this to feel the increased strength in your body after hitting gym consistently or take some time to enjoy the artwork you have created this last moon cycle. You've come full cycle.
Reflect on those big goals and determine what the next stepping stone is. If there are things that need to be released/changed; take the time to take note. (Hint: the Waning cycle is next & great for releasing what no longer serves you!) Use the New Moon to solidify your plan and put the time in again during the waxing moon.
As I mentioned in the first post for our Moon Cycle series, following the cycles allows you to have a consistent tracking method for those big goals. The approximate 13 cycles per year can help you break down those big ideas into smaller bite size pieces.
So what are you working towards this year? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
P.S. - The moon is full on the 21st so you still have a bit of time to get all that work in! ;) And if you want to dive deeper into intention setting be sure to join me for "Clairfy" our local retreat.
Today it's all about the waxing moon or the process of the moon appearing to grow larger. I always like to think wax on, wane off (ha ha!) to keep the cycle straight. With that in mind, of course our connection to the waxing moon is all about GROWING!
In short the waxing moon is drawing in energy and building up to become a whole (think full moon). If we choose to work with these natural cycles, now is the time to put the work in! Continue building up your projects, work on getting that experience and really commit to your daily practices.
So what are you currently putting your attention into?
Continuing on with our Moon Cycle Series, let's check in with the New Moon! As we start our new year journeys we're beginning the year with a new moon on Saturday, the 5th. This is like getting a second start for those new year intentions with a bit of extra oomph from the universe.
First up, the new moon occurs when we don't 'see' a moon in the sky. Obviously it's still there it's just not reflecting sun light since it's positioned between the Earth and the Sun. Some people will call this the dark moon, since the light is not being reflected back towards us. (Want to learn more about the science?)
The science is grand, but I'm more into connecting to the vibes and I'm guessing you are too if you're reading my blog. (ha ha)
New moon vibes are ALL about starting fresh. We've got a clean slate since we released what doesn't serve us during the waning moon cycle. Now is the time to begin new things. Try something new. Start a new hobby, work-out, etc.
