Hey gang! This is a guest post by the lovely Brad of selfcareing.info who reached out to me about posting. Check out these self-care tips that you may or may not already be sneaking into your day! - Jenn Rose You can’t seem to catch your breath. You have deadlines piling up; you have clutter piling up at home; and your friends are complaining that they never see you. There is so much pressure to be everything to everyone that you struggle to be something meaningful for yourself. Self-care is the victim of our fast-paced, to-do-list-obsessed, and achievement-driven society. We take on too much because doing more has become the standard. But, researchers and doctors agree, it’s not sustainable and is taking a toll on our health both mentally and physically. It’s time to make yourself a priority. Self-care doesn’t mean you are being selfish or putting responsibilities on to others. When you take the time to care for yourself, you are making sure you are better able to care for others.
It's been a while since we've had one of these and there is SOOO much out there to be shared. This time around it's all about mindset and success. Are you ready to dive into some good stuff?! Grab a cup of you favorite hot beverage and get down to some good reading! The Seven Secrets of Success
There are many stories shared in the Hindu traditions that provide helpful knowledge on how to attain enlightenment. While rooting around the internet one day I stumbled upon the Sivana East website, whose blog posts range from yoga ideas to mindfulness and meditation. This week I ran into Shiva's Seven Secrets of Success. What stories would your body share if it could speak for you? Would it tell of the gall bladder surgery when you were thirteen or of the beautiful dance performance with that gorgeous group in Las Vegas on a legendary stage? Perhaps that tooth you lost when you got hit by a snowball? Or maybe how your fingernails feel fancy when they're freshly painted? What stories do you tell your body? Do you stare in the mirror with love or ..... ? Often times our body stories are a mix of our past and our feelings.
The wanting to be something that we aren't right now and not enjoying the journey or the present moment. I'm all for tuning out social media and turning your phone off every now again, but hear me out! Perhaps your cellphone could be your most mindful tool yet. Based on the apps and settings you have in place your phone could be a great tool for wellness, mindfulness, magic and meditation. Let's dive deeper...
Continuing on with our Moon Cycle Series, let's check in with the New Moon! As we start our new year journeys we're beginning the year with a new moon on Saturday, the 5th. This is like getting a second start for those new year intentions with a bit of extra oomph from the universe. First up, the new moon occurs when we don't 'see' a moon in the sky. Obviously it's still there it's just not reflecting sun light since it's positioned between the Earth and the Sun. Some people will call this the dark moon, since the light is not being reflected back towards us. (Want to learn more about the science?) The science is grand, but I'm more into connecting to the vibes and I'm guessing you are too if you're reading my blog. (ha ha) New moon vibes are ALL about starting fresh. We've got a clean slate since we released what doesn't serve us during the waning moon cycle. Now is the time to begin new things. Try something new. Start a new hobby, work-out, etc.
I first did this photo blog back in 2016, moving into 2017. I was just looking at last year's thinking how far I have come in a year! Sure, looking back in my journal I may have thought the same thing, but seeing it through an image stirs up so much more. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words!
So this post is more for me, #sorrynotsorry. However, I do encourage you to look back at your year and take some time to reflect how far you have come, who you are now and where you are going in 2019. <3 2018 SUMMARIZED IN ONE PICTURE… |
