Even when we've had the worst day, there is always something that happened that we an consider to be a win! When we are down in the dumps we may not be ready to find that win.
If you've been reading along with me, you know that I love Veronica Varlow! In one of her recent BitchCraft sessions she mentioned how we as humans are hard-wired to remember the negative. It's something in our genetic make-up to help us stay away from danger and ultimately keep us safe. However in our current world, most of us aren't running away from bears while foraging for food. Many of the fight or flight behaviors show up during our day to day adventures; think a tough meeting with the boss, etc. If it doesn't go as planned those negative experiences, comments, etc. stick with us longer than we can remember those positive things! Getting a little primal, is this making sense? So what are we to do when we are wired to remember the negative, instead of the positive? We just have to make more of an effort! Let's literally change the way our brains work. I've been working on writing "3 Good Things" in my journal daily to spark positive vibes. Paper and pen not your thing? Try the Bliss app on your phone. How about an online journal? We can begin to train ourselves to see more positive things, if we choose to focus on it. The best part of this is if you start to look for the good, you'll notice more and more positives! As a result your gratitudefor every day things begins to sky rocket! Which by the way is another positive. ;) For more information on this topic, check out this awesome TED Talk! Let's get out there and find the good! - Jenn Rose <3 |
