Do you feel like your stagnating? "Going through the motions"? Can't find the "fun" any more? Are you depressed or just looking for growth? Before we get into today's post, Let me clarify, I am NOT a therapist. I am NOT a doctor. Depression is a serious condition and should be discussed with a professional. Perhaps, the mundane no longer serves you. Perhaps, you're looking for more. Perhaps, you've outgrown something in your day to day and NEED a change. Growth is how we evolve as humans. Growth is what keeps us going. Personal growth is what change is ALL about, my friends. However, growth is hard. Change is hard. Even more so if you you're in that dark and twisty place. (Gray's Anatomy, anyone?) So how can we keep growing if we're in that place?! Let's take baby steps. When we're growing up we're encouraged to try new things, new food, new sneakers when we've out grown ours, etc. As we get older we learn that not all change is easy. Family members pass and a possible risk turned into a failed endeavor. We suffer pain and hardship. We learn anxiety. We learn fear. Perhaps we find comfort in NOT growing. Staying in that "comfort zone". Living a life of habits, rituals and finding ourselves "going through the motions." What if, like little kids, we added more FUN? What if we tried that new thing? What if we took that leap of faith? What if we pushed ourselves to our edge a little bit more? How would it affect our personal growth? Change can be anything that differs from your usual programming. Something big or something little that takes you just a baby step out of "the Norm". You can mix it up with any of these ideas or try something else entirely! Let me know your ideas in the comments. <3
Instead of getting your coffee from the same shop, pop in at that new place down the street. Say hello to someone you've never introduced yourself to at work. Try a cup of tea instead of coffee (gasp!). Drop in at that Barre class instead of your usual Zumba session. Throw on some heels and take yourself out to dinner. Put on a crazy colored lipstick (Purple fans?). Dance around your living room to some Bhangra music. Always do Power Yoga? Pop in at a Restorative Class. Take a bath instead of a shower. Find a new walking/hiking trail. Change up your Journaling Style. (Maybe Bullet Journaling?) Really make plans to meet that old friend, that you always say you're going to. Take up knitting. Try a burlesque class. (ooh la la) Spend some time baking home made bread. Take a different route on your way to work. With Spring rolling in, you might be feeling the need to shake things up a bit. Do it! See how it affects your day to day mood. Taking a risk is difficult, but the outcome is growth. Who knows, a small change could change your entire outlook or your life. Keep on growing, <3 Jenn Rose (Photo by Muhammed Fayiz on Unsplash Photo by Eye for Ebony on Unsplash) |
