Truth be told, I'm not a big Valentine's day fan. However, I'm not one to miss a chance to talk about self-love and self-care! In the last few years I've started to shift the idea of Valentine's day to be a day to check in with myself, making sure I am getting what I need to care for myself so that I can present my best self to those I love. Let's jump right into some simple self-love ideas for your Valentine's Day/week or every day life! (Because you shouldn't need a specific day to love yourself; it should be constant!) Treat Yo' Self Parks & Rec anyone? I'm not saying you have to go out and buy yourself a pair of Louie Vuitton's but definitely something that makes you feel luxurious. Some of my favorites are a new essential oil or blend, a small bouquet of roses (from Aldi's!) or bath fizzies. Perhaps that massage you've been wanting but never scheduled could be a fun solo date? "Me Time" Perhaps taking yourself out on a date or treating yourself to something isn't in the budget. With our busy yang lifestyles some times just gifting yourself some "Me Time" is all you need! Schedule 20 minutes to an hour for a long bath, read a book, drink some tea or journal. Treating yourself doesn't have to mean you need to buy something. How about a guided Self Love Meditation? Join me at 8 PM on Valentine's day on Instagram live (or in the Zennergy Wise Warriors private FB group) for a 10 - 15 minute guided self-love journey! Affirmations!
Create an affirmation that rings true to your core. Commit to repeating this mantra daily for the next week or so. Affirmations are powerful true statements that sometimes may bring out your inner mean girl (or guy) because you doubt it. For example, I love and accept myself exactly as I am. Commit to saying it and feeling it and the self-doubt will eventually melt away. Amp up your affirmation! Create a sigil and place it next to your mirror. Look at it every day to help release any doubts behind your true and positive statement. Move Check in with your sassy beautiful self and feel all those great positive endorphins after a nice work-out session. Try something new and break out of your routine. My obvious favorites are yoga and belly dance, but maybe you want to try something a little sassy like a twerk class or even pole fitness? You could always just put on some great music and dance around you kitchen. Declutter I'm not saying you need to clean, but maybe it's time to get rid of things that no longer serve you or "Spark Joy" if you follow the Kon Mari Method. Let go of those pants that no longer fit (treat yo self to new ones if your size changed, you deserve it!). Get rid of those kitchen appliances and tools you never use. At this point that tomato slicer is just getting in the way and causing you stress every time you move it. Perhaps a better declutter would be your social media feed. Does your Pintrest spark joy? How about your Instagram? Unfollow or Snooze friends who's posts upset you. You don't need those little stressors adding up to a big break down. How are you spending your self-love day? Have another idea? Share it in the comments! Happy Self-Love Day! - Jenn Rose |
